 Daal Curry/ Split chick pea and lentil curry

(enough for 4 portions)

 

 

Ingredients

1 cup of red lentils

½ cup of split chick peas

8 mugs boiled water

¼  cup vegetable oil

1 medium onion thinly sliced (optional)

1 bulb garlic crushed or sliced

1 tsp salt (to taste) add more or less

1/4  tsp Turmeric 

1 tbsp Amaali mix basaar

1 tsp Amaali garam masala

 

 

Method

 

  • Measure lentils and split chick pea and soak,stir in a bowl of cold water.

  • Place boiled water in pan and add all spices and salt. Let it continue to boil

  • Drain lentils and place in the boiling water. Let the lentils cook on medium heat for few mins.

  • Then reduce heat and cook until a good consistency. Remember to stir to prevent lentils sticking on the bottom of the pan.

  • In a separate frying pan add oil and garlic, fry crushed or sliced garlic until golden.

  • Once lentils and split chick peas are cooked and nice paste like consistency add the garlic and oil into the pan and mix well.

 

Serve with chapattis or rice
